My realization is that I can still maximize my full potential, so after earning
my MA degree with specialization in Special Education, I applied for work at the Department of Education Central Office as
Education Program Specialist (EPS). I landed at the Bureau of Elementary
Education, Special Education Division, the right place at the right time with my training and background!
My written communication skills was truly honed in this
Office. As EPS, we prepared project proposals, memoranda, letters to regions,
comments/suggestions, and all sorts of written concerns. I also got to places
around the country and even to Australia
where I got an AusAID scholarship in year 2000 and eventually earned Masters in Education in Mathematics Education.
I also got the chance to monitor SPED programs and projects
and provide technical assistance in aspects/areas where needed, and thats basically around the country.
Trainings and writeshops were part of worklife. Speaking engagements in
seminars and conferences were also a part of life of an EPS. I got to speak before
teachers, administrators and supervisors about Special Education, Inclusive Education, Deaf Education, and other topics which
my big bosses feel I can deliver well.
